MÚTUO is the result of an exclusive collaboration with interior designer Rita Valadão, combining architectural precision with handcrafted warmth. The name—meaning “mutual”—reflects a piece born from shared authorship, where Valadão’s modern vision meets MAMOA’s expertise in Portuguese craftsmanship. It is a statement of trust between designer and maker, bold enough to anchor a room.
The armchair exudes elegance through contrast. A high-gloss walnut base grounds the piece, lifting a generous seat whose proportions feel solid yet inviting. The backrest wraps around in a continuous curve of pleated velvet, creating a tactile inner shell that enhances the sense of intimacy. These vertical pleats capture the light, adding depth to the rich surface.
On either side, clean walnut panels extend upwards to frame the upholstered interior. The interplay between polished wood and plush velvet adds a subtle theatricality, like a small stage for the body. Rooted in traditional woodworking and precise joinery, MÚTUO remains sculptural from every angle—a familiar yet distinctly personal presence for any curated space.
