MOOSH is a dining chair developed in collaboration with Ballé Studio, designed to bring structure to the foreground. Instead of a hidden base, the piece features a hand-carved wooden pedestal that carries the seat and defines its sculptural character. Every base is crafted from solid oak or walnut, ensuring the maker’s gestures remain legible amid the timber’s unique transitions.
The chair is composed of two distinct elements: a textured, conic pedestal and a compact upholstered upper. A slim gap between the wood and fabric emphasizes the meeting point between Ballé Studio’s structural carving and MAMOA’s upholstery expertise. This single central volume anchors the piece, providing a clear outline and a comfortable, wrapping backrest without unnecessary bulk.
In a group, the repeated pedestal bases create a strong architectural rhythm around a table. Individually, MOOSH functions as a singular object of craft—a rejection of standardized design in favour of human touch and material expression. It is a refined statement for interiors where seating is central to the space’s visual identity.
