The Essence of Marcel

A precise, architectural outline that frames a softer interior

MARCEL Armchair is named in honour of Marcel Breuer (1902–1981), the Hungarian-born architect and designer who became one of the key figures of modernism and the Bauhaus movement in Europe and the United States.

design concept and inspiration

Reduce forms to their essentials while still creating inviting, inhabited spaces.

Formally trained at the Bauhaus, Breuer is known for pioneering the use of tubular steel in furniture, as well as for a body of work that explored structure, proportion, and clarity of line across interiors and architecture.

His designs often balanced strict geometry with a surprising sense of comfort, reducing forms to their essentials while still creating inviting, inhabited spaces.

MARCEL translates this spirit into an upholstered armchair: a precise, architectural outline that frames a softer interior, echoing Breuer’s ability to combine rational construction with human scale.
