design concept and inspiration
SUR LE BOIS extends a warm, crafted language throughout any curated interior
The armchair is built around a generous circular seat resting on an elliptical base with tapered legs. Its upholstered volume is low and deep, offering an inviting surface that encourages relaxed postures rather than strictly formal ones. An asymmetrical curved backrest wraps part of the perimeter, creating a sense of embrace while leaving the front open to the room, allowing for a more dynamic interaction with the surrounding space.
The wooden base acts as a continuous ring that follows the seat’s outline, slightly recessed so the fabric appears to hover above the timber.
This contrast between the warm grain and the textured upholstery reinforces the piece’s identity: a fragment of landscape—a soft topography—rather than a conventional chair.
